1. What EduTemples Is

EduTemples is a marketplace that connects students with independent tutors for live 1:1 tutoring sessions and self-paced courses. EduTemples is not the tutor's employer, and a tutor is not EduTemples' employee or agent — tutors are independent providers who set their own availability and hourly rate, and are responsible for the quality and conduct of the sessions they deliver. EduTemples' role is to verify tutors, facilitate discovery and booking, hold payment in escrow until a session is completed, and provide the tools (live video, messaging, ratings) that a session depends on.

2. Fees & Platform Fee

EduTemples charges tutors a flat 30% platform fee on the hourly rate they set, deducted before weekly payout — there is no separate fee charged to students beyond the tutor's listed rate. New tutors pay 0% platform fee for their first three months on the platform. After that window, a tutor may optionally subscribe to EduTemples Standard (₹499/month) to reduce their platform fee to 10%, or EduTemples Pro (₹999/month) to reduce it to 5%, for as long as the subscription stays active — billed and renewed manually through the tutor dashboard, cancellable anytime by simply not renewing. EduTemples reserves the right to change platform fee or subscription rates for future bookings with reasonable notice; a rate change never applies retroactively to a booking already made.

3. Bookings & Payment

When a student books a session, payment is collected upfront and held in escrow until the session is marked complete, at which point the tutor's share (their rate minus platform fee) becomes eligible for the next weekly payout. Payments are processed by Razorpay; EduTemples never receives or stores your card, UPI, or bank account details directly.

4. Cancellations & Refunds

• A student who cancels 24 hours or more before the scheduled start time receives a full refund.
• A student who cancels within 2 hours of the scheduled start time is not entitled to a refund.
• Cancellations between 2 and 24 hours before the session are handled case by case.
• If a tutor fails to show up for a confirmed session, the student is always refunded in full, regardless of how close to the session time the no-show is reported.

5. Two-Way Ratings

After a session is completed, both the student and the tutor may rate each other. Neither party can see the other's rating until both have submitted theirs — this blind-reveal design is intentional, meant to encourage honest feedback rather than retaliatory or reactive ratings. Ratings and any written comments become part of each party's public profile once revealed and may not be altered or removed except at EduTemples' discretion (for example, to remove content that violates these Terms).

6. Tutor Verification

Every tutor must submit a qualification document and a government ID before being approved to teach. Tutors teaching K-12 subjects additionally undergo a background check step before approval. Approval is manual and at EduTemples' discretion. Submitting false or misleading verification documents is grounds for immediate rejection or termination under Section 8.

7. Conduct

Users agree to communicate respectfully, to not solicit payment or contact outside the platform to circumvent fees, and to not misuse messaging, live video, or the ratings system. EduTemples may review reported conduct and take action up to and including account termination.

8. Account Termination

EduTemples may suspend or terminate an account for: fraudulent verification documents, repeated tutor no-shows, harassment or abusive conduct, attempts to circumvent platform fees, or other material violations of these Terms. A user may also close their own account at any time by contacting support. Termination does not affect payment obligations already incurred (for example, a payout already earned for a completed session).

9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

EduTemples provides the platform "as is" and does not guarantee the quality, safety, or outcome of any tutoring session. EduTemples is not liable for the conduct of any tutor or student, or for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.

11. Changes to These Terms

EduTemples may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page.
